Events the South Vancouver Island Rangers
The South Vancouver Island Rangers holds a number of social events and shooting events throughout the year. The proceeds of the events are used to maintain and improve the grounds and facilities and to further the goals of the Society. The SVIR also holds regular Skeet and Trap practices on Wednesdays and Thursdays of each week, generally running from 10am to 4pm. These practices are open to members and non-members provided they have eye and hearing protection and can demonstrate safe firearms handling practices. Insurance and guest shooter fees are applicable to shooters who are not members or NFA Insurance holders. Late in the year, SVIR also hosts 4 "Turkey Shoots" or Prize Shoots which are also open to members and non-members.

Many members of the South Vancouver Island Rangers are competitive shooters in Trap, Skeet or Sporting Clays events. They shoot throughout BC and the Pacific Northwest in PITA (Pacific International Trap Association), VISL (Vancouver Island Shooting League), ISA (Island Skeet Association) and NSSA (National Skeet Shooting Association) events. The SVIR Club hosts a number of these events over the course of each year. The largest of these shooting events at SVIR grounds are the Western Canadian Open (held over 3 days at the end of June) and the Fall Open (held over 2 days in mid-October).
